Microsoft FrontPageŽ 98 provides a unique approach to Designing a THEME or look for a web site with its use of "Themes." Similar to the Themes in MS Plus, these pre-configured styles and looks have all the graphics needed to maintain a consistent and VIVID look.

This page is using the "Nature" theme. It maintains the "Nature Theme" in its Page Banners, Navigation Buttons, Bullets, Font-Face, Heading Colors, Line Breaks, and more, all Pre-made,  and ready to be "applied" to any FrontPage 98 Web or Page. These themes maintain this look by defining it in Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) that all the pages refer to for their "look" and "navigation structure". Pages created dynamically by FrontPage (Discussion Webs, Navigation View builder, etc.) will have the same look and feel as the existing Web Site's Theme and Pages.

The navigation structure can be Dynamically Generated for your pages by dragging pages and files into the Navigation View window of FrontPage 98 Explorer. This can result in FrontPage generated link buttons to your pages and files.  Easily add branches and limbs to the Navigation Tree to create pages and their link buttons (navigation structure) with the Webs current Theme.

These CSS files and consequently, the theme, can be edited to customize the look and feel of any theme. This is best accomplished with the Theme Designer found on the FrontPage 98 CD (in the /SDK/themes/designer folder usually). Once this is installed it can be accessed from the FrontPage Explorer "Tools" menu. You can now easily edit any existing theme and coolest yet, build your own, fast and friendly.

Be sure to rename your edited themes so you remember their look by name. Something short but descriptive to you of the "look" of the theme is best. Now that you've saved your new theme you should close both the Theme Designer and FrontPage 98 Explorer then re-open your web and apply the new theme.

Many many hours go into building the graphics and the layout of the Font Faces used by most themes and therefore some money is needed for the authors time and skills. So don't be shocked to see that a theme may have a price tag on it for you to download and use it on your webs.
