The Web Spinners Guild is hosting another International Web Design contest to encourage better looking, more interactive and faster loading Web sites around the world.  Participants will be able to chat and learn from each other and show off their talent to the world. Plus the winners will earn some well deserved recognition for their work and some very COOL prizes!

So dust off those old scripts and fire up your favorite editor. Web spinners from around the world will be competing for free web space for life and unlimited email! What more could you want except maybe your own domain? Well, the 1st place winner gets that too, not to mention a bunch of other prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place!!

So we can maintain a set conduct code, only Web Spinners Guild Members will be able to enter the contest. You must agree to the rules and disclaimer and register by July 14th.  Only applications received before the deadline will be eligible to participate.

Each registered participant will receive an FTP and HTTP USER account to publish their pages. They will also receive 10 megabytes of Web space to store their files. You may use the following programming languages and editing tools to construct your site:

Active Server Pages
Server Side Includes
Cold Fusion 4 Pro
FrontPage 98
Dreamweaver, HomeSite, HotDog, AOL Press, etc.
ActiveX
Java & JavaScript
JB Script
HTML 2.0+
Adobe Software
Macromedia Software
QuickTime 3.0+

If you use a tool or language that is not listed above, please e-mail larry@2webspinners.com and ask if the web server supports your version. Most other options are supported, but check first.

Contest registration will begin on June 1st 2000 and will run through July 14th 2000. Contest uploading and work can begin on July 17th 2000.

Voting will be held July 27th and July 28th 2000.

The contest will be judged on 4 categories:

  1. Graphics/Look
The general feel of the site due to the graphics or color.
  2. Load Time/Run Time
How fast the pages take to fully load and if they are error free.
  3. Interactivity/Dynamics
How interactive the site is or dynamically created from visitors input.
  4. Originality/Creativity
How original the concepts, ideas and themes used throughout the site are.

With a point scale of 1-10 per category.

All sites will be judged and the winners will be picked by the most points total. All the judges will vote on all the sites, then all the points for each contestant will be added together to compute his or her total score. This simply equates to 4 to 40 points per contestant. No zeros here! Even a blank page gets you a four. Hopefully we won't see any of them!

Previous "Contest SITES" (to get an idea of what will be competing this time around):

Registration will run from June 1st 2000 to July 14th and then the design contest will begin. The contest will run for 10 days (July 17th - July 26th) during which time participants will work on their sites and upload their pages into their web. At the end of 10 days all accounts will be "frozen" until the judges have voted. The judges will place their votes securely via the web July 27th and 28th 2000. Sites will be judged by all Guild Members and Sponsors as well as open to Internet votes (Only one email Address per vote with 10% value of Guild Member or Sponsor Votes).

After the votes are calculated the winners will be contacted and then announced on the winners page. All awards and prizes will be shipped without delay. Good luck to all contestants!
